Chilton Running Club was founded on the simple premise that a small, dedicated group of people, taking small steps, can change the world.
Now imagine you’re 15 years old, and recovering from an eating disorder. What can you do to change the world? Well, two friends — and two of the bravest people you’ll ever meet — founded an organization that has become the strongest voice that full recovery from an eating disorder is possible and should be accessible. In 2008, at the age of 15, Liana Rosenman and Kristina Saffran founded their own non-profit to raise funds for others who could not otherwise afford treatment for eating disorders.
Chilton Running Club is thrilled to announce that the third Charity Partner for our 2018-2019 year is Project HEAL!
Since its inception, Project HEAL’s Treatment Access Program has evolved to ensure that beneficiaries are equipped to utilize the insurance coverage they are entitled to, and that when coverage cuts out, their treatment partners ensure that they can stay in treatment as long as they need.
Additionally, while common in other mental health fields, peer support has been largely absent in America’s approach to treating eating disorders. Project HEAL’s Communities of HEALing changes that by providing 100% free peer support and mentorship specifically designed to support eating disorder recovery. Rolling out through their chapter network, and delivered by rigorously trained volunteers, Communities of HEALing has the potential to connect with communities that are currently underrepresented in eating disorder treatment, such as low-income populations, LGBTQ communities, communities of color, and male-identified people.
Chilton Running Club is united with Project HEAL in the belief that movement that is appropriate for each individual is important. We believe that all bodies and fitness levels belong. We believe in the power of community and supporting individuals in their own journey, but never dictating what that journey should be.
Like Project HEAL, we believe everyone is welcome.
